Pooch Peacekeeping Pro Course

Catalyzing Growth Through Conflict

Are you a pet professional looking to deepen your understanding of dog behavior and the human-canine relationship while setting yourself apart in the industry? Are you searching for that next “thing” that isn’t just a re-packaging of what you’ve already learned, but something completely different?

Do you feel that there are pieces of the puzzle that don’t quite fit, despite your education in behavioral sciences and possibly related fields such as attachment, trauma, pain, nutrition, ethology, and resiliency?

Do you often sense an unspoken “elephant in the room” between you and your clients or colleagues? If so, what you're experiencing reflects the core mechanism of conflict—an essential aspect of how systems evolve and transform.

The Nature of Conflict

At its core, conflict arises when there is a difference in goals, needs, or desires between elements of a system:

  • A guardian wants their dog to like a stranger, and the dog is afraid of the stranger.
  • A puppy simultaneously wants to approach and retreat from a Christmas lawn ornament.
  • A professional wants a client to muzzle train their dog and the client thinks muzzle training is "mean".

Where there is conflict, there is energy stored—emotional or kinetic energy—much like the energy in the air before a storm, or the anticipation you feel before a concert or sporting event begins. That energy eventually needs to be released, and when it does, it can lead to life-sustaining transformation or escalate into destructive cycles of behavior and emotion. These cycles ripple through the human-canine system, ultimately compromising the welfare of both the dog and the guardian.

As dog professionals and guardians, we face a choice: we can either try to avoid or fix the "problem behaviors" that emerge from conflict—whether it’s pulling on the leash, leash reactivity, aggression, resource guarding, separation anxiety, or any other challenge—or we can embrace conflict as a catalyst for growth and transformation.

Pooch Peacekeeping: Your Path to Freedom

Pooch Peacekeeping offers a path for professionals and dog lovers to embrace conflict with clarity and confidence. The program provides a structured approach to navigating the complexities of life with dogs through organic, sustainable solutions.

In this course, with the support of a community of Pooch Peacekeepers, you will learn how to turn conflict into a powerful catalyst for change in all your interactions with dogs and humans.

Pooch Peacekeeping can be difficult to describe, as the experience it delivers is truly unique to each student and continuously evolving. However, here’s what some students are saying:

"Behavior is incredibly complex, and as professionals working with clients and their dogs, Pooch Peacekeeping breaks down this complexity, providing a clear framework to navigate the layers and considerations involved. It supports positive growth and connection by empowering natural, organic solutions.

Each layer of the course uncovers new insights, patterns, and moments of alignment, connecting real-world experiences with deeper understanding. It explains the systems that shape us, our dogs, and the world around us, offering practical ‘maps’ or ‘guardrails’ to see more deeply and expansively.

The course teaches us to observe interactions through multiple lenses and reflect on our observations. These ‘maps’ help us navigate the complexities of behavior, giving us room to grow both personally and professionally. This growth, in turn, enables us to support our clients (both human and dog) in their own development.

By integrating systems thinking into our work, the course empowers us to provide natural solutions for the challenges clients face, fostering harmony in their relationships rather than relying on traditional, non-organic interventions that often lead to dependence and roadblocks.

It’s a brilliant course—truly a game-changer and a must-have for all dog professionals."

"This course has been so life-changing, not only professionally but personally. It's truly been beyond my wildest imagination. This course has not only solidified and revolutionized my already deep understanding of dog behavior, but it's also been absolutely life-changing in my personal life—a ripple effect I did not see coming! There is so much of this course that has felt like a soothing balm on all of the things that once confused me or overwhelmed me when it came to thinking about, talking about, and learning about conflict, motivation, and behavior—in humans and dogs!

Cat's incredible breadth of knowledge and her ability to connect the dots on such a large scale has been wonderfully insightful and inspiring. This course is fueling, for me, a long career in the dog behavior consulting and dog training industry and a deeper understanding of the intricacies of life itself. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this! I am so grateful to have found this course. You will not regret diving into this work!"

What You Will Learn

  • A comprehensive understanding of the nature of conflict and how it evolves within complex systems.
  • An exploration of the interconnectedness and interdependencies within systems, focusing on how feedback loops, dynamic interactions, and system constraints influence behavior.
  • A whole-systems approach to conflict resolution, considering both the individual components and the system as a whole.
  • Practical frameworks ("maps") for navigating the complexity of human-dog, dog-dog, and dog-environment interactions.
  • Tools for identifying patterns of conflict and emergence at multiple levels of the system.
  • Strategies for collaborative problem-solving with clients and dogs, facilitating long-term, adaptive solutions to behavioral challenges.
  • Membership in a supportive, purpose-driven community.
